Kia Hybrid and Electric Vehicles for Sale in Carson, CA

Gasoline has been an obligatory part of driving for as long as cars have existed. However, the performance and efficiency limitations inherent in combustion engines spurred the search for an alternative. When electrified vehicles first hit the market, they were slow, expensive, and odd-looking. But the landscape is changing, and hybrids and EVs are becoming more practical, capable, and stylish by the year. And as adoption increases and technologies advance, the advantages of battery-powered automobility will only improve.

Kia welcomes the transition toward a more sustainable future and is doing its part to help make electrified vehicles more accessible by offering a diverse and ever-expanding roster of hybrids and EVs. And they're available to Los Angeles-area drivers here at Kia of Carson.

What are the Benefits of Hybrids and EVs

The advantages of battery power in vehicles are myriad, including lower emissions, reduced operating costs, and improved performance.

According to the California Energy Commission, transportation is responsible for ~50% of the state's greenhouse gas emissions, ~80% of nitrogen oxide pollution, and ~90% of diesel particulate pollution. Expanding adoption of hybrids and EVs can help significantly improve air quality and mitigate transit's environmental impact by reducing the amount of fuel consumed by combustion engines.

Since electric motors are much more efficient than combustion engines in converting their fuel source to wheel power, battery-powered/assisted vehicles are cheaper to operate per mile. Fully electric vehicles can save drivers even more money on maintenance, as they don't require many common service items like oil changes and belt replacements.

While gas-powered engines take time to reach max torque output, an electric motor can put it down instantly, resulting in smoother and quicker acceleration.

Which Kia Models are Hybrids/EVs?

Kia Niro Hybrid, Niro Plug-in Hybrid, and Niro EV

The Kia Niro is a compact crossover with versatile accommodations, abundant features, and three powertrain variants. The standard version is powered by a 139-horsepower hybrid that achieves an impressive EPA-estimated 50 mpg in its base trim. The plug-in hybrid uses the same powertrain with a larger battery, giving it an electric-only range of 26 miles (EPA-est. 105 MPGe). Finally, there's the Niro EV with 201 horsepower, 291 pound-feet of torque, and an EPA-estimate 239 miles of range. Look for an all-new Niro generation to launch in Fall 2022.

Kia Sportage Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid

Fully redesigned for its fifth generation, Kia's longest-running nameplate enters the 2023 model year with a roomier, more refined cabin, a wealth of tech and safety features, and two available battery-assisted powertrains. The Sportage Hybrid (227 hp, 258 lb-ft) improves efficiency to an EPA-estimate 43 mpg (38 mpg with AWD), while the Plug-in Hybrid variant boosts horsepower to 261 and offers an estimated 84 MPGe and 32 miles of electric range.

Kia Sorento Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid

One of the most well-rounded midsize crossovers in its class, the rugged yet refined Sorento provides classy accommodations, capacious cargo options, and generously equipped trim levels. It offers the same powertrain options as its Sportage sibling, achieving an EPA-estimate 37 mpg with the hybrid and 79 MPGe with the plug-in hybrid (32-mile electric range).

Kia EV6

The first Kia model to leverage the company's new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Kia EV6 delivers engaging performance, stylish yet practical accommodations, and a sharp, eye-catching aesthetic. Available EV powertrain configurations include:

  • A base-model, RWD EV6 light (167 hp, 258 lb-ft) with a 58kWh battery and 232 miles of range.
  • RWD Wind and GT-Line models (225 hp, 258 lb-ft) with a 77.4kWh battery and 310 miles of range.
  • Dual-motor AWD Wind and GT-Line models (320 hp, 446 lb-ft) with a 77.4kWh battery and 274 miles of range.

An 11-kW onboard charger allows the EV6 to replenish its battery in approximately seven hours with Level 2 charging equipment. And for longer journeys, the EV6 supports 350-kW ultra-fast charging, which can add ~70 miles of range in 5 minutes and ~217 miles in under 18 minutes.
